In Matthew 17: 24-27, Peter is questioned by tax collectors if Jesus pays the temple tax, and not wanting to cause an unnecessary provocation, provides a means to pay it. He instructs Peter to throw a hook into the sea, and that a coin will be in the mouth of the first fish that comes up. It is a reminder that God provides for all our needs.
